DALUM’s Largest Installation Yet: 3 Senior CO₂ Recovery Plants at Russian River Brewing Company

Three DALUM Senior CO2 Recovery Plants Installed at Russian River Brewing

We’re proud to share a major milestone in DALUM’s journey towards making brewing more sustainable. At the iconic Russian River Brewing Company in California, three DALUM Senior CO₂ Recovery Plants are now fully operational – marking the largest installation in our company’s history. The legendary Russian River Brewing is know for their unwavering commitment to quality, with their flagship beers “Pliny the Elder” & “Pliny the Younger” being widely regarded as two of the finest craft beers created. A Powerful Setup for Sustainable Brewing

The system at Russian River is a true example of scale and integration. The installation includes:

  • Three DALUM Senior CO₂ Recovery Plants
  • Five Dewars for efficient CO₂ storage
  • Automated foam detection for optimized performance
  • Seamless integration with Russian River’s existing 50-ton bulk tank and vaporizer

This configuration allows the brewery to capture and reuse CO₂ generated during fermentation, dramatically reducing the need for purchased CO₂.

Immediate Results: Environmental & Operational Impact

The impact has been visible from the start. In just over two weeks of operation, Russian River Brewing has:

  • Recovered more than 10 tons of CO₂
  • Prevented over 20 tons of CO₂ emissions from entering the atmosphere
  • Reduced dependency on external CO₂ supply – a valuable advantage in an industry facing supply volatility

These results highlight how investing in CO₂ recovery technology can bring both environmental and economic benefits.

A Partnership Built on Innovation and Responsibility

DALUM founder and CEO Kim Christian Dalum, along with Chet Kiedrowski, Director of Operations – DALUM USA, and Ashley Zerick, U.S. Sales Representative, were on site to oversee the installation and ensure a smooth startup.

We are honored that Russian River Brewing, led by Vinnie & Natalie Cilurzo, with Garrison Fratoni as Brewery Engineer, chose DALUM for this ambitious project. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and environmental responsibility mirrors our own vision for the brewing industry.

Leading the Way for Craft Brewing

This project is not just a technical achievement; it’s a statement about the future of sustainable brewing. By capturing and reusing their own fermentation-generated CO₂, Russian River is:

  • Lowering their carbon footprint
  • Reducing operating costs
  • Setting an example for breweries worldwide
