It is our pleasure to announce the installation of a DALUM CO₂ Recovery Plant in the iconic St. Bernardus Brewery, DALUM’s first installation in Belgium. We feel privileged to enable St. Bernardus to combine traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge CO₂ recovery technology.
St. Bernardus Brewery was founded in the 1940s, when they started brewing beers with a license from Westvleteren’s Trappist monks. St. Bernardus continues to keep its heritage intact while introducing new methods today. Its classic brew, St. Bernardus Abt 12, is among the best beers in the world by many estimations, and from hereon it as well as their other beers will be carbonated using CO₂ which is captured directly from their own fermenting process.
With the DALUM Craft CO₂ Recovery Plant, St. Bernardus can now capture, purify, and use their natural CO₂ generated during fermentation.
This enables the brewery to:
• Reduce its dependence on external CO₂ deliveries
• Reduce operating costs and improve production stability
• Improve its environmental sustainability profile
The installation shows how modern CO₂ recovery technology can effortlessly be integrated into an old-fashioned brewery environment with economic and environmental advantage.
